ACLU Announces Acting Director Of Washington Legislative Office (7/24/2009)
WASHINGTON – The American Civil Liberties Union today announced that Michael Macleod-Ball will be serving as the Acting Director of the Washington Legislative Office as the organization searches for a new Legislative Director. As Acting Director, Macleod-Ball will be the organization’s top lobbyist and lead the ACLU’s legislative team in influencing lawmakers and the executive branch to protect civil liberties.

ACLU’s Top Lobbyist To Step Down (5/20/2009)
WASHINGTON – The American Civil Liberties Union today announced that Caroline Fredrickson will be stepping down from her position as the director of its Washington Legislative Office. After four years of serving as the ACLU’s top lobbyist and leading the ACLU’s legislative team in influencing lawmakers and the executive branch, Fredrickson will become the Executive Director of the American Constitution Society (ACS). Fredrickson will begin at ACS this summer.

Constitutional Law Scholar Susan Herman Elected As New ACLU President (10/18/2008)
NEW YORK – The American Civil Liberties Union Board of Directors today elected constitutional law professor Susan Herman as its new president. Herman is a Centennial Professor of Law at Brooklyn Law School and has served on the ACLU's National Board for 20 years, on the Executive Committee for the last 16 and acted as the Board's General Counsel for the last ten.

Strossen, the first woman ever to lead the ACLU, is one of today's most well known and respected civil liberties leaders. During her tenure as president, the ACLU has continued its role as a tireless defender of constitutional freedoms in the face of unrelenting threats.

Washington Legislative Office Hires New State Legislative Counsel (3/13/2008)
WASHINGTON – The American Civil Liberties Union recently welcomed Larry Frankel as the new State Legislative Counsel for the Washington Legislative Office. Frankel oversees the WLO State Legislative Department, which provides support to the 53 ACLU affiliate offices across the country. The State Legislative Department bolsters the ACLU’s work in state legislatures by analyzing legislation, providing background research, offering legislative strategy and acting as a liaison between policy experts and ACLU state lobbyists working on the ground.

ACLU of Kansas and Western Missouri Hires New Executive Director (11/26/2007)
KANSAS CITY, MO – The ACLU of Kansas and Western Missouri has hired Dan Winter as its new executive director. Winter, who will begin work Dec. 17, will lead the staff, volunteers and board of directors in efforts to protect every person’s civil rights throughout the region.
